This matte black texture of teapot is made by a method called Yakishime, which creates an unglazed finish that is blackened by firing with charcoal at extremely high temperatures. Yakishime is a traditional method that can also be seen in Tokoname ware. The more the teapot is used, the deeper and more lustrous the color changes. This teapot is suitable for Japanese tea, black tea, and oolong tea.
