Meet the Artists: Japanese Tableware Showcase at Mogutable
We're thrilled to announce our collaboration with a wonderful Taiwanese gallery, Haconiwa 箱庭 , for a special pop-up event at Mogutable. This event showcases a delightful collection of tableware by eight talented Japanese artists, featuring handmade ceramics, beautiful glassware, and skillfully crafted woodwork. Artist Profiles:
Ikumi Aoki 青木郁美
Ikumi Aoki creates pottery while also engaging in farming in her hometown, drawing inspiration from the earth and flora around her. Her white tableware features a unique apple ash glaze, made from the ashes of pruned branches from her family's apple orchard. These pieces are lightweight, smooth, and naturally shaped, making them ideal for everyday use.
Katsuya Matsumoto 松本克也
Katsuya Matsumoto specializes in wooden tableware, using iron mordant to enhance natural wood grain patterns. His work has a timeless appeal, with each piece developing a unique patina over time, much like cherished antique items.
Takashi Komiya 小宮崇
Takashi Komiya creates glassware that showcases both transparent and opaque qualities. His pieces evoke the serene frost of winter and the refreshing breezes of summer, making them versatile additions to everyday life that transcend seasonal boundaries.
Satomi Ito イトウサトミ

Ai Kato 加藤あゐ
Originally from Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, Ai Kato now creates ceramics in Nagano Prefecture. Her pieces are characterized by delicate curves and captivating glaze textures, highlighting the warm, layered quality of clay. Each piece is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, enhancing the presentation of food.
Yukiko Matsui
In her studio nestled among the mountains and rivers of Gifu, Yukiko Matsui transforms cold, hard metals into warm and inviting everyday items and jewelry. Her collection features brass and copper pieces, perfect for serving desserts or displaying jewelry, each with a distinct character.
Yoshida Pottery
Yoshida Pottery has been crafting Asahi-yaki pottery in Uji, Japan's renowned tea-producing region, for nearly 14 years. With a tradition passed down from tea master Kobori Enshu, Yoshida Pottery brings tranquility and beauty to everyday spaces and family dining tables.
Natsumi Mori 森夏未
Natsumi Mori is a woodwork artist from Hyogo, Japan. She values the unique character and texture of each piece of wood she works with, creating items that blend seamlessly into daily life while showcasing a distinctive charm and natural beauty.
