Brand Stories: Tangent GC

“My grandfather, chimney sweep by profession, could sometimes come across as a bit coarse. He was, nonetheless, meticulous when it came to his wardrobe and dressed with a certain degree of elegance. He did not own many clothes, but the clothes he did have he knew how to care for. His Sunday best was brushed down after use and his collars starched. When out of his wingtips, he made sure to put shoetrees in them and followed this up with contemplative polishing.” These are words by Daniel Samuelsson, founder of Tangent GC. Samuelsson realized the discrepancy between the care his grandfather would give his clothes, and the way people perhaps don’t today — with the all too common mass production of clothes (often not high-quality), he started seeing garment-caring as a form of art. 

So came products like the TGC041 delicate detergent, TGC043 stain remover, TGC022 fabric softener, TGC044 denim wash, and more for both laundry and shoe care. Consistent with their theme of caring with innovative and beautifully designed products, they extended their range to products that care for the skin. 

Tangent GC introduced the French made hand soaps two years later that are made with natural ingredients only: pure vegetable oils, cellulose gum, salt, and water. Each hand soap is infused with perfume oils that ultimately make the hand washing experience an experience. For example, the TGC106 tulip gives the experience of a freshly harvested bouquet of tulips, still cool from the outdoors that’s “floral, yet cautious”. 

Then came the brand’s organic hand cream line, crafted with pure vegetable lipids that lead to silky, light, and incredibly absorbent application. Tangent GC’s way of caring through this line was to offer a product that truly moisturizes the skin, but also frees you up so you don’t have the all too often sticky and greasy feeling that usually comes with a hand cream. Manufactured in Sweden, these hand creams also come with delicious fragrances, like Yuzu, Tulip, and Oud.
