Williamsburg Guide Ft. Women-Owned Businesses
While International Women’s Day is behind us, we at Mogutable continue to celebrate the remarkable strength, resilience, and grace of women all around us this month. These qualities compounded by passion and purpose are what make women-owned businesses really great ones. We’ve come a long way over the past decades with women now owning about 42% of all companies in the U.S. (National Women’s Business Council), but recognize that there are greater strides to be made.
One of the best ways to make these strides along with us, is by intentionally seeking and supporting women-owned businesses, online and locally! So for those looking to spend a day around Brooklyn, NY, we put together a list for you that highlights some our favorite spots and businesses run by women in our area.
Yun Hai Shop
If “Yun Hai” sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because we introduced their products in our own pantry collection several months back. In June 2022, the Taiwanese pantry shop opened their first brick and mortar store in Brooklyn. They offer a selection of premium ingredients for Taiwanese and Chinese cooking, sourcing everything directly from farms, artisans, and breweries from Taiwan. Their mission is not too far from ours — to bring visibility to the makers, culture, and cuisine from a land far from here.

Berry Home
If you’ve visited our store recently, you likely saw the dried botanical decor hanging above, from Berry Home. Berry Home dries fresh flowers at their store to make their iconic dried botanical bouquets and arrangements for their customers. They also share a love for curating home goods from both local and international artists! So whether you want to add a touch of florals in your home that will last, or want to find something for a bigger project, Berry Home may be perfect for you.

The Moss & Green
The Moss & Green is not your typical ‘plant’ store. Rather, it’s a Japanese kokedama (style of bonsai using moss balls) bonsai studio founded by May Carroll. With the belief that creating and nourishing a Kokedama can help one experience a new love for nature, The Moss & Green offers exquisitely crafted Kokedamas, and tools to surround them at their Brooklyn store.

The Té Company
While not located in Brooklyn, the Te Company is worth the honorable mention. Located in the West Village, you can not only shop their premium tea (you can shop their oolong tea on our website and at our store, it’s our favorite) and teaware, you can experience their tearoom. There, you will find an array of exquisite sweet and savory snacks to complement the tea you choose. Read our Guide to Oolong Tea before you head on over.
